The history of Storytown, USA

Bachmann’s Storytown Line was inspired by the Storytown, USA theme park in Lake George, New York. The old Storytown, USA grounds and attractions were bought by Six Flags and are now part of Six Flags Lake George. Theimaginaryworld.com has some photos and postcards of the old park.

Storytown, USA Catalogs

We know that there were two Storytown catalogs produced. One was definitely published in 1958 as it is marked. The other is likely from 1957, if we follow Bachmann’s usual catalog numbering system. The only difference in the front covers of the two is that one states “Catalog B-1958” in the upper right corner.

A reproduction of the 1958 catalog is known to exist. Some examples may have the word “reproduction” rubber stamped in the lower right hand corner of the back page, but not all. Known reproductions do not have the holes and rectangular cutouts on the bound edge as do original catalogs. Click here to view reproduction catalog and comments.
