O and S Catalogs

From 1950 to 1969, Plasticville catalogs were normally distributed only to dealers, either for their own use, or as a reference for their customers. Also listed in this section are the Plasticville Collectors Series Sheets which correspond to the King Distributing Series. Playguides and other Plasticville paper will be added in the future.

Plasticville Catalogs: 1950 - 1959

  • Comments: Reproductions of the 1950 and 1953 catalogs are known to exist. Viewed examples have the word “reproduction” rubber stamped in the lower right hand corner of the back page although not all may have this stamping. A distributor’s name is printed on the back page of the 1950 reproduction rather than the usual rubber stamped distributor’s name. The 1953 catalog has a small rectangle in under the letter E in the word NEW where it looks as if a small piece of the cover may have been missing. There is also what looks to have been a small tear at the bottom of the page immediately below the letter S in the word ITEMS. It shows as a vertical white line on the reproduction.

  • Blue and white or green and white folders were included with some pieces. There are at least 7 different forms of these folders.

F.W. Woolworth Advertisements

Keasbey & Mattsion Advertisement in Fortune Magazine

  • The ad is for asbestos-cement pipes to be used in your suburban town to help with the flight of people to suburbia. What is more fascinating — the interesting use of Plasticville or the fact that this company was so proud of their asbestos products? K&M went out of business in 1962 (they had been in Ambler, PA since 1881). CertainTeed was one of two companies who bought the site and continued to make asbestos products.
